The technique of making this unique glass is done by blowing through a pipe onto a molten glass mass. As the glass maker blows he begins to mold the piece by continuously turning it around with the pipe. As the piece begins to cool it's shaped as required while color is added to bring to life beautiful individual effects.
Many designs, such as small bubbles, splatters, colored swirls, confetti or pebble patterns can be produced. Mexico is truly the land of the master craftsman.

Today Mexico is very well known for affordable, rustic hand blown Mexican Glass drinking glasses, the most popular of them characterized by a cobalt blue band at the rim. To create different colors, various metal oxides are added. Small amounts of iron and sulfur will achieve amber and brown effects while green and aqua glasses require iron. Light blues need copper, while dark blues contain very small quantities of cobalt. They are now making Red rimed and colored glasses by adding small amounts of Gold. Confetti colors can also be achieved by adding crushed glass of the desired color.
