Handcarved Cradle Guardian horse. There once was a Hindu King who adoredhis baby and had a very special governess to watch over the child. Oneday, she had to  go away on a very long journey. Since  the Kingwouldn't trust anyone else to watch over his baby,he called hisartisans to carve a likeness of the governess to hang over thebaby's cradle to guard it from bad dreams and evil spirits.Today,Balinese artisans still create cradle guardians in the form of fancifulcreatures like mermaids and dragons, and now all the other creatures ofthe earth. In addition to the traditional flying ladies originallycarved for the Hindu King.
