Bird Mask - Cameroon

This intricately carved mask was hand carved from one piece of wood. Used in Dance ceremonies. Traditionally used by one family in the Bali Tribe.  33" x 12"

One of  a kind - 70 + years old.
These cap masks were worn on the top of the head were a part of ritual dance sequences. Their rank, however, was beneath that of the leopard and elephant, royal icons, and the buffalo.
